ClassList Printer 5 (Windows) October, 2007
IMPORTANT NOTE: ClassList Printer 5 installs into a folder named CLP. If you have an earlier version of ClassList Printer installed onto your computer, this install will not affect it in any way. If you want to remove the earlier version of ClassList Printer, first, check the usual Windows uninstall procedure. If not available, then just delete the ClassList Printer folder on your computer.
Procedure: Click on the download link below. A window will appear asking whether to Open (or Run) or Save the file.
Open (Run) method:
-
The install file will download into a temporary folder on your computer. When done the installation will begin.
-
Choose where to install the CLP folder. The default is c:\Program Files. When done, you will see a CLP icon on your desktop.
Save it to your desktop method:
-
Click on Save and direct it to save to your desktop. Then minimize your web browser and double click on the install file that you saved on your desktop.
-
Choose where to install the CLP folder. The default is c:\Program Files. When done, you will see a CLP icon on your desktop.
You no longer need the install file so you can drag it into the Recycle Bin (be careful that you don't drag the CLP icon).
Note: on a fast internet connection these downloads will take a few minutes. It will take much longer on a dialup connection.
This is a portable installation:
-
This portable install does not save anything into your Windows/System folder. Neither is anything registered on your computer. The only element installed outside of the folders is the CLP link created on the desktop. The CLP folder is entirely 'self' supporting', that is, it contains all the files necessary for ClassList Printer 5 to run.
-
Need portability? You can drag or install your CLP folder onto a USB drive. It will run fine from there when you plug your USB drive into another computer (though you will have to navigate to the folder to run the CLP.exe
-
Uninstalling? To remove the portable CLP from your computer you do not use the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel. Instead, just drag the CLP folder into the recycle bin. You will have to manually delete any desktop and start bar links separately.
Note: this portable installation will work with most, but not all Windows computers.
